I’ve been trying to build a repeatable process for localizing campaigns across Mexico, Brazil, and Chile, and I’m realizing that “localization” is a much messier concept than I initially thought.
Obviously, you need to translate—but that’s actually one of the smaller challenges. What’s harder is understanding what needs to actually change about the campaign for each market.
Here’s what I’m working with:
Market Research: Each country has different consumer behaviors. What moves someone in Mexico might not move someone in Brazil, even if they speak the same language (sort of). Chile’s market feels completely different from both.
Creative Adaptation: This goes way beyond translation. Product positioning, visual style, tone, even which product benefits you emphasize—all of these need to shift.
Platform Strategy: As I’ve been learning, Mexico loves TikTok, Brazil leans YouTube, Chile is somewhere in the middle. So the content format itself changes.
Partner Network: Finding the right creators, translators, and local experts in each market is time-consuming. But you need people who actually live in these markets.
Validation: Before you launch with real budget, how do you actually test whether your localization is landing? Small tests in each market first, or do you trust the research?
I’ve heard about best-practice playbooks and frameworks, but they’re usually pretty vague. When I try to apply them, I end up with a ton of custom questions for each market anyway.
Does anyone have an actual process that’s repeatable but flexible enough to handle how different these markets actually are? What’s your audit → adapt → validate process look like?
