From a creator side, I think about this too. I’ve noticed that when brands run heavy fraud detection on me, it sometimes feels excessive, but I also understand why.
What I’d say: real creators are transparent. Ask me questions about my audience. Ask for insights. Real creators know their data and can speak to it. If a creator seems evasive or doesn’t know their own audience breakdowns, that’s a legitimate red flag.
I’ve also seen creators artificially inflate engagement by using engagement pods or buying comment bots. That’s super obvious if you actually read the comments—they don’t match the content and they often say weird generic stuff.
One honest thing: some creators (including myself initially) grow audiences in inauthentic ways early on, then build real engagement later. So a historical red flag doesn’t always mean someone is still problematic. The question is whether their recent engagement now looks authentic.
My advice: focus fraud detection on recent signals more than historical ones.
