Partner matching vs. cold outreach: why i stopped sending blind emails to US agencies and started using the hub instead

I’ve been running a boutique agency for about five years now, and we’ve always relied on cold outreach to find US partners. You know the drill—LinkedIn searches, generic emails, maybe a 2-3% response rate if we’re lucky. But over the last few months, I’ve been experimenting with the bilingual hub’s partner-matching features, and honestly, it’s changed how I think about finding collaborators.

What shifted for me was realizing that cold outreach treats every potential partner like they’re interchangeable. But that’s not how partnerships work. We need people who understand both the Russian market nuances and how to execute in the US. The hub’s matching actually surfaces partners with complementary experience—not just people with openings.

The real breakthrough came when I filled out our agency profile properly. Instead of the generic “we do influencer campaigns,” I detailed our actual capabilities: UGC production, bilingual creator networks, and experience with cross-border brand launches. Within two weeks, we got intro requests from three US agencies that were specifically looking for exactly what we offer.

I’m not saying cold outreach is dead. But the conversation is different when someone’s already seen your portfolio and knows what you do. It cuts through so much noise.

Has anyone else made this shift? What surprised you most about how different partner matching feels compared to traditional outreach?

This is exactly what I’ve been telling my team. We’re getting better-qualified introductions through the hub than we ever did with LinkedIn. But here’s what I think matters most: the profile has to be honest about what you’re not good at too. When we listed our UGC strengths but also said “we’re not a full-service creative studio,” suddenly we started getting partners who actually needed exactly that—not partnerships that looked good on paper but fell apart in execution.

One thing—how long did it take you to get real traction? We’re about three weeks in and I’m seeing some nibbles, but I want to know if patience is the play here or if there’s something else we should be optimizing.

I’ve done both extensively. Cold outreach is volume—you’re betting that 100 emails might land you 2-3 conversations. Partner matching through the hub is precision. You get fewer conversations upfront, but the ones you get have someone already familiar with your work.

The math flips though once you land your first collaboration. That partner becomes a warm referral source, and that’s worth ten cold emails combined.

Fair point though—the hub still requires you to be proactive. It’s not like partners just fall into your lap. You still need to respond quickly to matches, present ideas clearly, and follow up. The difference is the vetting is already partially done by the system. You’re not guessing if someone’s serious about partnerships.

I love this perspective. As a creator, I’ve noticed the same thing happening from my side. When brands find me through the hub and they’ve already seen my portfolio and understand my audience, the conversations are so much smoother. They know what to expect.

The one thing I’d add—make sure your profile actually reflects what you want to attract. I initially put everything on mine because I thought it would look impressive, but then I started getting matched with projects that weren’t the right fit. Now I’m more selective about highlighting specific strengths, and the quality of pitches is way better.
