We’re trying something new: instead of running a campaign in LATAM, documenting it, then later adapting it for US campaigns, we’re running semi-coordinated campaigns with similar creators in both regions simultaneously and building one cohesive case study from both angles.
The idea looked good on paper. Same brand, similar creator tier, parallel timelines. But we’re hitting friction points we didn’t anticipate.
First issue: creative direction. The US creator and LATAM creator interpret the brief differently—not badly, just differently. The US creator is more literal about brand voice guidelines. The LATAM creator adds more personal flavor and humor. Both are working authentically, but when we try to make them look like part of the same story, the tone whiplash is real.
Second: pacing and communication. The US side moves fast, wants daily check-ins, needs everything in writing. The LATAM side is more relationship-based, prefers longer conversations where things get figured out together. Neither is wrong, but when we’re documenting “our process,” which process do we actually describe?
Third—and this is the hard one—metrics aren’t directly comparable. Same follower count doesn’t mean same reach. Same engagement rate means different things. If we show different numbers for similar effort, either we look like we don’t understand the market, or we look like we’re making excuses.
Has anyone actually pulled off a truly parallel case study that doesn’t feel forced? Where’s the real breaking point—creative direction, timeline, metrics, or something else entirely?
Okay, I’m going to be direct: you can’t force a parallel case study to feel cohesive if the campaigns themselves are meaningfully different. And they should be different—that’s the whole point.
What we do instead: document the strategy, not the execution. The strategy might be “leverage micro-influencers for authentic brand integration,” but the execution in LATAM looks totally different from the US execution. Different creator selection criteria, different content formats, different timelines, different communication cadence.
When we present this, we lead with: “Here’s how we adapted Strategy X for two distinct markets.” Then we show the LATAM case study, the US case study, and explicitly call out what’s different and why. This actually builds credibility—it shows we don’t have a one-size-fits-all playbook.
The real win is showing that the same strategic thinking works across markets when you execute differently. That’s way more valuable than trying to make two different things look the same.
From a creator perspective, trying to make parallel campaigns “match” often means one of us ends up compromising on what we’d normally do.
Like, my audience knows my voice. If I suddenly deliver something that’s been coordinated to match another creator’s style, my people notice. And then the engagement drops because it feels inauthentic.
I think the smarter move—which brands have started doing—is to document our different approaches as part of the same story. Show that authentic voices require different execution. That’s actually more credible than pretending we’re doing the same thing.
The breaking point is usually execution design. Here’s why: LATAM and US markets have fundamentally different operational characteristics.
Timeline: LATAM campaigns often build momentum over weeks. US campaigns need faster results. That’s not a bug—it’s a feature of how each market moves.
Creator communication: LATAM tends toward relationship-driven partnerships. US tends toward agreement-driven ones. Both are legitimate and work better in their respective contexts.
Content expectations: Different platforms dominate, different content formats perform, different posting cadences work.
If you’re building a true parallel case study, you can’t paper over these differences. What you can do is document a meta-strategy—the thinking behind adaptation. That’s actually more sophisticated and more sellable than trying to prove both campaigns were identical.
The question to ask isn’t “why are these campaigns different?” but rather “why does our strategy require these specific differences in each market?” That framing transforms “we did different things” from a problem into evidence of expertise.
