Aggregating wins and losses from multiple influencers—how do you actually scale the learnings?

Third, create a simple scorecard: when onboarding a new creator, score them against your benchmark variables. That becomes your predictor for whether they’ll likely succeed or struggle.

For community/partnership angle: Yes, sharing anonymized case studies with other marketers does help. You get feedback like “Oh, we saw similar results with that creator” or “We tried that approach and it bombed.” That perspective saves you from repeating mistakes.

The real win is when you can hand a new creator a one-pager that says: “Based on 50 campaigns, here’s what works with audiences like yours.” That’s your competitive advantage.

My advice: talk to your creators directly about what surprised them. But for your synthesis problem: What if you just asked each creator, “What was the one thing that surprised you about how your audience responded?” You’d get patterns in the why, not just the what. That’s way more useful than more spreadsheets.

This is a classic attribution problem. You’re looking at campaign outcomes, but you don’t have visibility into the mechanincs.

Here’s the rigor I’d add: For each campaign, track not just the final conversion metric, but the journey. Where did the click come from? Was it the first touchpoint or last? How many times did the user interact with the influencer’s content before converting? This tells you whether the creator is driving demand or just capturing demand someone else created.

Then segment your learnings:

  • High-performing demand creators: These are your efficient spenders. Double down.
  • High-performing capture creators: These are your conversion channels. Use them after you’ve built awareness.
  • Underperformers: Either the wrong audience fit or the wrong campaign objective.

Once you have that segmentation, your playbook becomes: use demand creators in upper funnel, capture creators in lower funnel. Now you’re not chasing random patterns; you’re building a funnel-based strategy.
