Can AI actually help you avoid partnering with the wrong influencers, or is fraud detection mostly theater?

What I do instead of trusting a single score: I look at the individual signals. High fraud score because of a 30% follower jump 8 months ago? Investigate whether that coincided with a viral post (legitimate) or came from nowhere. High score because engagement is concentrated at weird times? Check if the creator has an international audience keeping different hours.

For cross-market influencers specifically, AI fraud detection gets confused because the engagement pattern varies by time zone naturally. A creator with Russian followers might have peak engagement during Russian hours and minimal activity during US hours. That can ping fraud flags for no reason.
