What metrics actually predict whether a UGC brief will land across different markets?

I’ve been trying to crack this for months: How do you know before you spend serious budget whether a UGC concept will work in one market but flop in another? We’ve had briefs that crushed it with Russian creators and their audiences, but when US creators tried the same concept, it was… flat. And vice versa.

I started looking at the data more carefully, and there are definitely patterns. Russian UGC seems to perform better when it has storytelling elements and shows real lifestyle context. US UGC—at least for our product—gets more traction when it leads with product benefit and moves faster. But I’m measuring this pretty crudely right now: just comparing engagement rates and CTR at the finish line.

What I really want to understand is: Are there leading indicators we can measure in early testing that tell us whether a brief will succeed in a new market without fully committing the budget? Like, can you test with 2-3 creators per market first, measure specific metrics, and then decide whether to scale?

I feel like there’s got to be a smarter way to validate concepts across markets before you risk burning a whole campaign budget. What signals are you actually watching for? Do you do small test batches? How do you decide whether something is worth scaling or if it needs to be killed?
