Here’s the problem: each country has different conversion patterns, different attribution windows, different fraud patterns with influencer traffic. Some brands even give up and just measure “brand lift” studies because direct attribution feels too unreliable.
But I can’t just shrug and measure brand lift. I need actual numbers so I can allocate budget effectively and know which creators and platforms are actually driving revenue.

This is a really important frustration, and honestly, I think part of the issue is expecting influencer metrics to work like paid ads. They’re fundamentally different.
Here’s what I’ve learned: some of the best partnerships I’ve built have involved creators who resist extensive tracking because—and this is important—their audience actually doesn’t like feeling tracked and marketed to heavily. The more friction you add to the partner experience (“you have to use this tracking link”, “this discount code is mandatory”), sometimes the less authentic the creator feels, and their audience picks up on that.
So my advice: yes, track what you can track, but also leave room for influence that isn’t directly attributable. Some creator partnerships work because they build brand awareness that converts three weeks later, or they reach someone’s partner who then influences the purchase.
I also recommend building relationships with creators who will self-report on what’s happening. Like, ask them directly: “Are you seeing sales conversations in your DMs? What are customers saying?” Sometimes the qualitative feedback is actually more valuable than the UTM data because it’s real.
For multi-country coordination: pick 1-2 metrics that mean the same thing across countries, and supplement with local metrics that make sense for each market. Like, all countries track “discount codes redeemed,” but Colombia might also track WhatsApp conversions, Mexico might track Facebook Shop conversions, etc.
Okay, so I’ve actually built a measurement framework for this exact problem. Let me share what’s worked:
Step 1: Accept multiple attribution models
You can’t use last-click across all channels. For influencer, I use:
- First-click (brand awareness value)
- Last-click (direct conversion value)
- Time-decay (something in between)
Then I average them. It’s not perfect, but it reduces the noise.
Step 2: Establish country-specific baselines
Before running any influencer campaign, establish your organic conversion rate for that country. Let’s say organic Mexico traffic converts at 3%. Now when you run campaigns, you know that anything significantly above 3% is incremental value.
Step 3: Use creator-specific tracking
Unique discount codes per creator (not per campaign—per creator). This is your ground truth. Everything else is supporting evidence.
Step 4: Measure incrementally
This is the one most brands skip. Run a holdout test: same demographic, same period, no influencer exposure. Compare conversion rates. This removes a lot of noise.
Step 5: Clean the data
Influencer fraud is real. I filter out:
- Traffic from VPNs
- Repeat visitors from same IP (likely fake clicks)
- Zero time-on-site (bots)
- Conversion events without actual products in cart
Once you apply these filters, your numbers become way more reliable.
Here’s my actual formula:
Influencer ROI = (Revenue from creator traffic - influencer fee) / influencer fee × 100
But you only count revenue that meets these criteria:
- Unique device ID
- Normal time-on-site
- Completed full checkout
- No refund within 14 days

What I actually do with clients:
Tier 1: Definite attribution
- Unique discount codes = counted as direct ROI
- Affiliate links with tracking = counted as direct ROI
- Product placement with promo codes = counted as direct ROI
Tier 2: Likely attribution
- UTM-tagged traffic that converts = 70% counted as influencer ROI
- Lookback window of 30 days
Tier 3: Possible attribution
- Brand search spikes after campaign = estimated value based on baseline search volume
- Traffic source listed as “direct” but spike correlated with campaign = estimated at 30% value
Then I present it to clients as: “Definite ROI is X. Likely ROI is X + Y. Possible ROI is X + Y + Z.”
Usually definite + likely is enough to justify budgets.
For multi-country: I actually build different measurement frameworks per country because fraud patterns, market maturity, and e-commerce infrastructure are totally different.
Mexico: Most fraud. Lots of tech-savvy audiences who know how to cheat systems. Need aggressive filtering.
Colombia: Mid-level fraud. More traditional e-commerce infrastructure. Standard tracking works better.
Argentina: Lowest fraud but also lowest conversion rates generally. Measurement is easier, but low volume means campaign size needs to be bigger to get statistical significance.

One tactical thing: we also tie influencer compensation partially to verified sales, not just clicks. Like, 50% base fee + 50% performance-based. Micro level: Individual creator ROI calculation (what I measure per creator)

Most people only track micro level and get lost in the weeds.
For multi-country LATAM campaigns, I recommend:
Build a data warehouse that tracks:
- Revenue by creator
- Revenue by country
- Revenue by platform
- Revenue by audience demographic
- CAC (cost per acquisition) by creator
- LTV (if available)
Then make decisions at the campaign level, not creator level. One creator might look low-ROI by themselves, but be driving high-value customers.
On fraud management:
I work with a data scientist who built models for what “normal” influencer traffic looks like in each country. Anything that deviates significantly gets flagged. This catches both bot traffic and creator manipulation.
On the multi-country comparison problem:
You can’t directly compare Mexico ROI to Argentina ROI. Instead, compare each to its local baseline. Is this campaign beating the market? Is it repeatable?
Also, think about brand value. Some influencer campaigns might have low direct ROI but create brand lift that compounds over months. Are you measuring that?
