I’ve been thinking a lot about partnerships lately, and I want to be honest: I’m running lean. We don’t have massive capital, we don’t have a huge track record in the US market yet, and our Russian credentials don’t automatically translate to “trusted” in America.
But I also know that trying to solo this without local expertise or partner networks is going to slow us way down. So I’m trying to figure out: what’s actually realistic?
Like, when I look at other founders who’ve done this successfully, some seem to land solid partnerships in 8 weeks. Others talk about 6+ months of relationship-building before anything real happens. I’m trying to understand which timeline is actually normal and which ones are outliers.
The harder question is: what does a credible partner even look like when you’re bootstrapping? Are we talking agencies? Individual experts? Influencer networks? And how do you actually vet someone when you don’t have existing US connections to ask for intros?
I’ve been thinking about starting with smaller creators or micro-agencies, proving ROI with them, then using those results to get bigger partnerships. But I’m not sure if that’s a smart strategy or if I’m just delaying the inevitable.
Has anyone actually mapped this out? What was your realistic timeline, and how much of your initial outreach was just luck versus an actual system?
